Smith and Wesson
Smith and Wesson was founded by Horace Smith and Daniel Wesson in Norwich, Connecticut in 1852. The company is one of the leading manufacturers of firearms of all different kinds. In 1856 they formed their second partnership, and first fiscally successful one, patenting a cartridge revolver. In 1869 they designed the Model 3 American, the first large caliber cartridge revolver. This revolver became wildly successful in the United States Cavalry, and the Russian Imperial Government. This success marked Smith and Wesson as one of the leading handgun manufacturers in the world.
Smith and Wesson has continued from when they were first founded to the present day to make many advances in handguns. The most famous of which being the Model 10 which was designed in the early 1900's and has continued to be produced every year since. Nearly every military and police force around the world has used the revolver at some point. Upon other accomplishments, they produced the first magnum revolver as well as launching the world into the era of stainless steel firearms.
